Alpha-lipoic Acid – Self-experiment (2)

I just finished taking Alpha-lipoic Acid (ALA) for 60 days. I did not find that it had any significant effect on my diabetic neuropathy symptoms.

On the 15th June 2013 I began taking 1200mg a day (in three doses of 400mg each) of ALA manufactured by Olimp Laboratories … as posted on the 28th June 2013. As I reported in that post, after two weeks I could discern no effects on the symptoms of my diabetic neuropathy.

According to the literature, it takes about six weeks before the beneficial effects of ALA are noticeable. I’m disappointed. After more than 8 weeks I have not noticed any significant improvement in my symptoms.

However it could be that as the improvement came in very slowly, I did not notice it. So I will remain off ALA for the next month or so and see whether my symptoms get any worse. I’ll post again on this topic.
